North Tahoe volleyball: Lakers split vs. Nighthawks, Lions

The Lakers are scheduled to play at Portola on Wednesday, at Battle Mountain on Friday and at West Wendover on Saturday. North Tahoe returns home to host Whittell on Oct. 8.

The North Tahoe volleyball team split a pair of league matches in the past week, defeating Silver Stage in straight sets, 25-17, 25-13, 25-9, and falling in three sets against defending state champion Yerington, 20-25, 19-25, 13-25.

Against the Nighthawks, senior Jordan Briggs recorded eight kills and four service aces to lead the Lakers’ offensive attack. Jamie Dodge tallied 25 assists, Helana Kearns had six digs and Sherene Clegg had two blocks.

Clegg, Rikki Partain and Tilley Gibeaut each had five kills, and Jillian Argiris had four. Partain added four aces and Dodge had three.

In the Yerington match, the Lions’ Kassidy Lommori smashed 17 kills to lead the way. North Tahoe stats were not available.

North Tahoe is now 2-1 in Northern Division III play and 7-2 overall. Yerington is 2-0 in league (16-4 overall), and Silver Stage is 0-2 in league (0-7 overall).
