North Tahoe volleyball: Lakers win league matches on road

North Tahoe does not play again until hosting a nonleague match against Whittell on Oct. 8.

The North Tahoe volleyball team improved to 4-1 in the Northern Division III with a pair of league wins at Battle Mountain and West Wendover this past Friday and Saturday.

The Lakers swept past Battle Mountain, 25-17, 25-11, 25-12, and defeated West Wendover in four sets, 25-17, 24-26, 25-14, 25-20. Including a nonleague win in four sets at Portola last Wednesday, the Lakers are now 10-2 overall.

Against the Longhorns (0-3 league), North Tahoe senior Jordan Briggs recorded nine kills and eight digs, Jamie Dodge tallied 16 assists, Sherene Clegg had six kills, Rikki Partain had six kills and seven digs, and Helana Kearns had nine digs.

Kearns, Partain and Tilley Gibeaut added two service aces apiece, and Gibeaut contributed eight assists.

Briggs finished with 11 kills and 11 digs to go along with her six aces against the Wolverines (2-2). Clegg had nine kills and four blocks, Partain had seven kills, three aces and 18 digs, Jillian Argiris had six kills and two blocks, and Jamie Dodge had four kills, six aces and 10 digs.

Kearns amassed 25 digs, Dodge finished with 28 assists and Gibeaut contributed 13 digs.
