North Tahoe volleyball | Young Lakers improving

North Tahoe volleyball coach Mike Welch promised his young Lakers squad would steadily improve as the season progressed. So far, heand#8217;s been true to his word.

The Lakers dropped a home match in three games against a tough Quincy team on Tuesday, but the hosts did not make it easy on their opponent, hanging within four points in each set in a 23-25, 21-25, 22-25 loss. North Tahoe managed only 17, 22 and 10 points in a loss at Quincy one week earlier.

and#8220;The team is improving every day,and#8221; Welch said. and#8220;We are getting more competitive and skills are developing on a daily basis. I am starting to see some really good volleyball play from both varsity and JV teams at times. We are increasing the length of time we can perform at our highest levels, which is putting us on a path toward success.and#8221;

The Lakers tallied 12 kills in the match, with junior Baylee Goodwin and freshman Jordan Briggs leading the way with three kills apiece, and Tilley Gibeaut and Jennay Argiris finishing with two apiece. Lauren Wilson and Taylor Briggs each had one kill.

Jordan Briggs led the Lakersand#8217; serving game, as she posted 11 points to go along with her one service ace. Argiris had eight service points, while Goodwin had seven and Gibeaut five. Argiris, Taylor Briggs, Gibeaut and Kylie Willson each contributed a service ace.

Willson finished with a team-high 15 digs as Taylor Briggs had 13, and Gibeaut and Jordan Briggs each had eight. Tibeaut had four assists.
