On the Hill: Soul skiing at Northstar

On the Hill, brought to you by the Tahoe Center for Orthopedics, brings you a video report showcasing Tahoe’s ski conditions every day.

Breakdown: Join Tahoe ‘On the Hill’ reporter Matt Hardy for a morning run on this beautiful day at Northstar. Fourteen lifts spinning, 28 trails open (all groomed).

Northstar’s official report: 0″ overnight, 1″ in last week.

Field report: Fresh groomers are making for a great surface.

Weather: Sunny and beautiful with temperatures warming in to the 50s.

Liftline status: No lines at 9 a.m. Expect all resorts to gradually get more crowded as we progress towards holiday the weekend.

Snowcast: We are only half way through January but this could be the driest four-month start to the Sierra snow season in recorded history.

While there’s a glimmer of hope for some precipitation late next week, it’s only a glimmer. If that hope fades, we could be looking at another two weeks of dry weather, taking us through the end of the month.
