Peak Volleyball Camps coming to Truckee, Tahoe City
Peak Volleyball Camps led by Mike Welch are coming to both Truckee and Tahoe City next week, featuring expert staffs with extensive college coaching experience.
Pre-registration is recommended for fifth- through 12th-grade girls of all experience levels, as the camp will be capped on a first come, first serve basis.
The first camp will be held at Donner Lakeand#8217;s West End Beach from Monday through Wednesday, July 9-11. The program offers skills training, game scenarios and competitions, and will have grass and sand volleyball courts, as well as time for water activities. Sessions are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Registration is $199.
From Friday through Sunday, July 13-15, the camp will be at North Tahoe High School in Tahoe City, where three distinct programs will be offered. The Peak Volleyball Camp is the fundamental skills camp with skills training, game scenarios and competitions, while the Advanced Position Volleyball Camp has position-specific training for setters, middle blockers, outside hitters and liberos, and the Team Retreat Camp is the ultimate team camp with skills training, team systems, team building and competitions open to varsity, JV, freshmen and middle school teams.
Campers may choose to attend as a day commuter or an overnight participant. Overnight participation includes supervised dorms, meals, pool party and socials at Granlibakken Lodge.
Sessions run from Friday at 4:30 p.m. to Sunday at 3 p.m. Registration fees are $249 for commuters, which includes lunches and socials, or $399 for overnight participants, which includes two nights of dorms and all meals.
Welch, the camp director and head technical coach, boasts 17 years of experience and 267 career wins as an NCAA Division I and II head coach. He led college teams to six nationally ranked seasons, five conference championships, and four NCAA Tournament bids. Welch was the head coach at Idaho State University, University of North Florida and Morehead State University. Additionally, Welch has twice led the USA Youth National Team as the head coach, and has coached five years in the USA National Team development program.
