Ponderosa Golf Course shooting for Saturday opening

TRUCKEE Ponderosa Golf Course postponed its originally scheduled Friday opening at least a day due to snow.Well probably open tomorrow (Saturday), we hope, said Dan OGorman, rec superintendent with the Truckee-Donner Recreation andamp; Park District, which is in its second year running the course. We plan to open as soon as the snow melts off the grass, which hopefully will go quick.OGorman said the nine-hole course, located off Brockway Road near Truckee River Regional Park, typically opens around May 1.Ponderosa will offer special rates until May 21 $20 for nine holes and $30 for 18 holes and will remain open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., OGorman said.Were really gearing on making the course as affordable as possible, trying to offer bargains for the shopper, OGorman said.In addition to the lower rates, the resort has upgraded with new driving nets and renovations to its clubhouse, and will offer a mens club every Thursday throughout the season and a ladies day every Tuesday.Three youth tournaments are scheduled, with the first one scheduled for May 17. Season passes are also available. An individual adult pass runs $500, while additional adults pass may be purchased for $400.
