Prep baseball playoffs to use Aces Ballpark in future

RENO, Nev. ” The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association will play postseason baseball at the new Aces Ballpark as early as next season.
“We have had meetings,” said Jay Beesmyer, an assistant director with the NIAA. “They want to work with the high schools.
“State (baseball) is here next year. Our goal is to hopefully get the park for two days and have all the kids (all four classifications) play in the Aces’ stadium for championships if the schedule works out.”
Beesmyer said that if hosting state didn’t work out then zone playoffs could be a possibility, but that also would depend on the Aces’ schedule. He also said that the Aces were going to host a NIAA Board of Control meeting at the stadium.
The NIAA executive also said that there was a possibility of schools playing regular-season games prior to Aces’ games.
Beesmyer said that schools would be responsible for selling tickets.
The Reno Bighorns, the NBA D League team, used a similar strategy this past year with area teams.
