North Tahoe Nordic skiers enjoyed a successful day in the sun in the Mammoth Classic on Friday.

Racing out of the Tamarack Lodge at Mammoth Lakes, the Lakers swept the top two spots individually in both the varsity boys and girls high school races, while North Tahoe skiers also claimed wins in both middle school races.

JC Schoonmaker and Dylan Syben finished one-two among varsity boys, posting times of 20:50.9 and 20:52.0, respectively. Haydn Halvorsen of the Sugar Bowl Academy finished just behind Syben in 20:52.5.

In the varsity girls race, Quinn Lehmkuhl and Sofia Sanchez placed first and second with times of 25:41.7 and 25:49.5, respectively, while Truckee’s Lizzie Larkins finished third in 26:12.1.

As they’ve done consistently this season, North Tahoe School’s Nick Burkhart and Nina Seemann claimed wins in the middle school division. Burkhart topped the boys field with a time of 13:42.6, and Seeman won the girls race in 13:38.3.

Trailing Seemann were Lexie Madigan of the Sugar Bowl Academy, in 14:18.0, and Caitlin Smith of Alder Creek, in 15:06.9.

Bjorn Halvorsen of Alder finished runner-up among middle school boys, posting a time of 13:58.2, and Phoenix Sanchez of North Tahoe was third in 14:37.3.

In the junior varsity high school races, Alexia Craven of Mammoth placed first among girls, Kate Kelley of Incline was second and Robin Romagnino of Mammoth was third. North Tahoe’s Jake Gramanz won the JV boys race and was followed by Nelson Bedient of Incline and Jake Inclan of North Tahoe.

Next up is the North Tahoe Pursuit at Tahoe Cross Country on Friday. The high school divisions race at 10 a.m. and the middle schoolers start at noon.
