Prep snowboarding | Truckee’s Ryan Cowie runner-up in Homewood GS

Truckeeand#8217;s Ryan Cowie and North Tahoeand#8217;s Griffin Lancaster raced to second- and third-place finishes in a CNISSF snowboard race at Homewood on Monday, while Truckeeand#8217;s Ruby Wood took third in the girlsand#8217; race.

In the team competition, North Tahoeand#8217;s girls won the race while Truckeeand#8217;s girls were fourth. The Truckee boys took second and North Tahoe sixth.

Evan Kaiser of Colfax captured the top spot in the boysand#8217; giant slalom race with a two-run combined time of 71.69 seconds. Cowie posted a time of 76.68 and Lancaster 77.31.



The Truckee boys had three racers in the top 10, as Troy Allen finished seventh in 80.13 and Blair Esson eighth in 80.82, followed by fellow Wolverines Seth Kennedy in 19th, Austin McWhinney in 20th, Sean Lefrak in 23rd and Dustin McQuary in 27th.

North Tahoeand#8217;s Nash Baehr was 35th and Evan Davis 39th.



In the girlsand#8217; race, Nelly Steinhoff of Colfax won with a combined time of 74.29. Wood, a regular top finisher for the Wolverines, was third in 78.58, while teammates Ariah Curtis took sixth in 81.41, Shauna Day 17th, Wynter Lim in 37th and Karen Corral 42nd.

The Laker girls placed three racers in the top 10, led by Emily Ashbaughand#8217;s fourth place with a time of 79.34. Kenna Bolt finished eighth in 82.28 and Lexi Schumann 10th in 83.24, followed by teammates Lacey Nored in 14th, Tara Turpin 18th, Courtney Peters 23rd, Shelby Crawford 25th, Sammi Schulte 34th and Sierra Aildasani 35th.
