Prep soccer | Boys’ 3A All-State selections released

The 3A boys’ All-State soccer selections were finally released this week.

State champion Sparks, which defeated Truckee for the title, cleaned up on the highest honors, as the Railroaders had the state MVP in Edgar Casillas, Defensive Player of the Year in Noe Espana and Coach of the Year in Frank Avilla. Tyler Streif of Elko was Offensive Player of the Year.

The awards were voted on by the four coaches whose team played into the state championship tournament.



Truckee’s Johnny Zarate was voted to the first team at forward, while teammate Nash McMullen was voted to the first team as a midfielder, Ben Brown made the first team as a defender and Jesse Fereira as a utility player.

North Tahoe senior Felipe Rodriguez was voted to the All-State second team as a defender.
