Prep soccer: Truckee, North Tahoe prepare for postseason Tuesday

All four North Tahoe and Truckee soccer teams qualified to compete in their respective Northern 3A Regional championship tournaments this week.

The Truckee girls host their first-round game on Tuesday, while both North Tahoe teams and the Truckee boys hit the road for their first-round games the same day.

Only three teams advance to the state championship tournament, making Tuesday a must-win situation for all. The regional tournament then moves to Churchill County High School (Fallon) on Friday for the semifinals and Saturday for the championship and third-place game.



Truckeeand#8217;s girls, who earned the Sierra Leagueand#8217;s top seed with a perfect 8-0 record, will host fourth-seeded Dayton (7-4-1) of the Humboldt League at Surprise Stadium starting at 2 p.m. Assuming they win, the Wolverines will play the winner between Fernley (No. 2 Humboldt, 8-4) and Sparks (No. 3 Sierra, 2-5-1) in a semifinal on Friday in Fallon.

The fourth-seeded North Tahoe girls (2-5-1) will play at top-seeded Spring Creek (12-0) of the Humboldt League on Tuesday at 2 p.m. If the Lakers win, theyand#8217;ll face the winner between Incline (6-2) and Lowry (7-3-2) in a semifinal on Friday.



The regional championship is scheduled for Saturday at noon, while the third-place game will be contested at 10 a.m. that morning.

The fourth-seeded Laker boys (1-5-2) play at top-seeded Fernley (7-1-2) of the Humboldt League on Tuesday.

Truckeeand#8217;s boys, seeded second in the Sierra League, play at second-seeded Yerington (7-2-1) of the Humboldt League the same day.

In other first-round action, the Sierra Leagueand#8217;s second-seeded team, Sparks (5-2-1), hosts third-seeded Lowry (6-1-3) of the Humboldt League, while top-seeded Incline of the Sierra League (8-0) hosts fourth-seeded Spring Creek (4-6) of the Humboldt League.

Truckee, if it wins its opener, plays the Incline-Spring Creek winner in a semifinal on Friday. If the Lakers win, theyand#8217;ll face the winner between Sparks and Lowry on Friday. The championship will be played on Saturday at noon, with the third-place game scheduled for 10 a.m.

The 3A State Championship tournament is scheduled for Nov. 13 (semifinals) and 14 (championships) at Damonte Ranch High School in Reno. Check the NIAA website at http://www.niaa.com for more information.
