Prep volleyball: Truckee routs Sparks at home; Lakers fall to Whittell

The Truckee High volleyball team breezed past visiting Sparks on Tuesday, winning in straight games, 25-11, 25-12, 25-13.Truckee improved to 4-1 in the Northern 3A and 19-6 overall.Seniors Michelle Hoehn and Callan Finney each finished with seven kills and three service aces, while Kati Murphy had five kills and Merry Brown four kills. Junior libero Kaylee Waters tallied 22 kills to lead the Wolverines.

The Lakers lost a Northern 2A league match at Whittell on Tuesday to even the season series against the Warriors at 1-1.After winning the first game 25-19, North Tahoe dropped the next three, 25-27, 12-25, 23-25.North Tahoe, which defeated Whittell in four game at home on Sept. 16, fell to 6-2 in league and 10-9 overall. The Lakers only other league loss came at Battle Mountain on Sept. 20.The Warriors improved to 5-1 in league and 12-11 overall. The Tahoe Daily Tribune contributed to this report
