Pros descend on Truckee for annual football camp

Eric Studenicka

More than 70 youth football players participated in the annual Truckee NFL Football Camp Saturday in Surprise Stadium which featured, in addition to several NFL pros, a guest appearance by Detroit Tigers’ baseball player Vince Coleman. Youth players participating in the camp had the unique opportunity to block five-time Super Bowl winner Rayfield Wright, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, and rush against All-pro linebacker Seth Joyner of the Arizona Cardinals. Other players had the chance to work on their receiving and pass defense with Anthony Parker of the St. Louis Rams and Roy Green, formerly of the Cardinals. Coleman, who was an All-American punter with Florida A&M before gaining baseball notoriety, worked with the special teamers. Of the pros, Joyner seemed to be working his squad the hardest, as his corps was seen doing windsprints up-and-down the stadium field. Clockwise from the top, Richard Baker attempts to maneuver around Wright, the owner of five Super Bowl rings; a young camper is given the unenviable task of trying to stop Joyner; and Roy Green discusses some pass pattern routes with the receivers.
