Northstar California Resort bolstered its Pro Team with the addition of Reno native and rising freeskiing star David Wise.

Wise, 23, has trained at Northstar for the last decade and credits some of his success, which includes the 2013 FIS World Champion title, to the impeccable design and builds of Northstar’s parks and pipes.

“I feel honored to be a part of the Northstar Pro Team,” Wise said. “As I head into this season, I am grateful for the support of the Northstar family. My own family loves skiing here, it’s close to home and I can rely on some of the best and most reliable ski conditions in the West.”

A member of the US Freeskiing Team, Wise lit up the competition circuit last season with gold medal performances at the Winter X Games, US Grand Prix and WIS World Championships. The devoted father and husband, who lives with his family in Reno, said Northstar creates a unique opportunity to stay close to his family while training on some of the best conditions in the world.

Wise is the only skier on the Northstar Pro Team, which features some of the world’s top snowboarders, including two-time Olympic gold medalist Shaun White, Chas Guldemond, Elena Hight and Eero Ettala.

“Wise is pushing the limits of what’s possible and we believe he will be a top competitor in the Olympic Winter Games,” said Northstar Marketing Manager Ally Gonzalez. “He couldn’t be a better fit for the Northstar Pro Team. His perseverance, positivity and incredible talents are admirable and we cannot wait to support him through the Olympic year, and cheer him on in Russia.”

Aspiring athletes and fans of Wise can expect to see him training at Northstar throughout the season and competing for a spot atop the podium when the Sprint U.S. Snowboarding & Visa U.S. Freeskiing U.S. Grand Prix visit the resort in early January.
