Seventy-seven competitors showed up to the first race of the Northstar at Tahoe Thursday night race series last week.
Racers and organizers were pleased the races returned to Northstar after a one-year hiatus.
“It’s good to be back,” Kyle Crezee the race director and mountain bike park manager said. “There were some fast guys for sure.”
Crezee was referring to the several national champions and pro mountain bike racers who participated in the expert division.
The men’s expert race was won by Kyle Dixon with a time of 56:36.6 followed by Bryan Alders with a time of 56:49.0 and Scott Fifield with a time of 1:00:25.9. Expert men raced three laps of a 4 mile loop consisting of a long climb and a technical downhill.
Emily Goss was first in the women’s expert division with a time of 57:00.1 followed by Susan Lopez with a time of 1:13.18.4. Expert women raced two laps of the course.
Top finishers in the women’s sport race Amber Finch with a time of 57:49.1 and Ryan Gini won the men’s sport race with a time of 45:35.6.
The race was the first of a seven week series. Awards will be given to the best five finishes at the end of the series.
