Alex Close/Sierra SunStephen Wright gets some amplitude during the freestyle kayak competition at the Reno River Festival on Saturday.

Last weekend marked the fourth annual Reno River Festival.

With so much late Sierra snow and recent warm weather, the Truckee River is swollen; but Downtown Reno’s Wingfield Park was more than capable of handling the extra water.

With the banks of the whitewater park lined with paddling enthusiasts, captivated tourists and scantily clad women, the festival was the place to be in Reno.

Professional kayakers showed off their stuff during competition for prize money and bragging rights, fans could take part in free clinics ” often taught by the very same athletes who were competing ” vendors showcased the newest gear and hottest equipment in the sport, the burgers were grillin’ and the beer was flowing. All this was fringed by impeccable weather and live music.
