Rumble unbeaten after close call

Staff Reports

Following are results from the last week of play in the Sierra Soccer Club, an organization consisting of Truckee, Tahoe City and Incline Village players.

Rumble 2 – Capital City Heat 1

The boys’ TNT Rumble U-14 Sierra Soccer Club team improved its record to 8-0 with a hard-fought victory against the Capital City Heat of Carson City.

For only the second time all season, the Rumble had to battle back from a one-goal deficit to secure the win.

After falling behind early in the game, the Rumble responded with a goal from Peter Nicholas that floated over the goalie who strayed from his line.

Kyle Flynn scored what proved to be the winning goal on a breakaway 10 minutes before the half. Both goals were assisted by Timmy McDonald.

A.J. Manetta and goalkeeper Danny Rostad shut down the Capital City attack with a smothering defense which has allowed just four goals in eight games. The next game was against the Tahoe Gravity on Wednesday after press time.
