Shaffer leads Sertoma West team

Eight Tahoe-Truckee High School football players and a coach top the roster of the Allstar West team in this year’s Sertoma Classic, set for tomorrow night in Reno.

TTHS’s Bob Shaffer will coach the west team, which has had a 8-9 record record over the past 17 years.

Truckee players include: quarterback Chris Gerdin, linebacker Jeff Andrs, running back Josh Wilson, linebacker Josh Anagnos, defensive end Brandon Anderson, offensive tackle Ty Lewis, center David Wells, tackle Josh Hunt and Robby McClendon.

Also joining the team are two North Tahoe players and three from Incline.

The game is tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at Reed High School in Sparks.

The 18th annual event will bring together 90 of the best graduating high school senior football players from 28 AA, AAA and AAAA high schools throughout Nevada and the Tahoe area.

The west team will take on the Allstar East team, comprised of players from Carson, Wooster, Sparks, Spring Creek, Yerington, Fernley and other teams.

Practices are today at 3 p.m. at Bishop Manogue High School in Reno.

The 1997 game went into triple overtime with the east winning 23-20.

Shaffer was the west’s winning coach in 1994.
