INCLINE VILLAGE — Sierra Nevada College’s men’s lacrosse team is scheduled for a series of games in preparation for the upcoming spring season.

The women’s lacrosse team schedule is still pending, and will offer more opportunities for Sierra Nevada College (SNC) to compete and win throughout the region.

SNC added the two lacrosse teams last year as part of their commitment to providing opportunities for students to gain crucial skills like leadership, teamwork, determination and motivation — skills that are strengthened through participation in competitive athletics.

Year over year, athletes at SNC are leaders among their peers, in the classroom and elsewhere. The average GPA for SNC athletes consistently stays well above 3.5.

New to the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL) Division II last year, the men’s lacrosse team went undefeated (7-0), knocking off the defending champ, U.C. Santa Clara, and boasting a 23-2 victory over the University of Nevada, Reno.

The team is led by coach Bruce Meierdiercks, who brings significant experience building new lacrosse programs to his second year at Sierra Nevada College. As a provisional member of the League, SNC was ineligible for the 2014 playoffs, despite its impressive record.

The men’s fall series includes six games in the Tahoe area, allowing SNC supporters to attend and support the team. Both a men’s and women’s game will take place on Oct. 18 during SNC’s Parent and Family Weekend in Incline Village.
