TV Days by Totally Board, a skateboarding competition held at Truckee Regional Park’s skateboard park, attracted 400 spectators and 50 competitors Saturday. The competition attracted a huge crowd for kids to show off their new tricks. The competitors were scored on the best of two runs. The judges look for difficulty of tricks, smoothness and landing tricks when judging. As well, the competitors are given full use of the park, including the bowl and the street.

Twelve-year old Truckee local, Rafe Robinson, winner of his age group, skates at the park seven days a week.

“Skating in competition gives me lots of energy,” said Robinson.

Robinson’s flawless full run with a Melon over Twinkie showed that practice pays off. “It’d be great if they could add to the street course. There are collisions when the park gets crowded,” said Robinson.

“The funds raised by the competition greatly benefit the entire community because the skate park is a safe place for kids of all ages to hang out,” said Robinson’s mother, Toni Robinson. Results were not available at press time.
