Skiers enjoy final weekend at Squaw Valley
Crowds came out to enjoy the final weekend of spring skiing at Squaw Valley and celebrate Memorial Day, dressed in red, white and blue attire, shorts and bikinis.
Skiers and riders enjoyed the soft, slushy snow and 60-degree weather nearly all weekend.
“I haven’t been up in a while and this seemed like the perfect day to come,” said Loren Smith, a Bay Area local.
The resort was able to keep runs open off of Siberia Express, Gold Coast Express and Shirley Lake Express with enough terrain still open for all skill levels. Terrain park staff maintained a variety of features up until closing day, drawing most of the crowd to throw down their best tricks on the last day of the season, as all Tahoe resorts are now closed.
Squaw Valley has long been a spring skiing destination. Last year the resort was able to stay open into July with record breaking snowfall throughout the season.
