Soccer stars off to Thailand

Lara Mullin, Sierra Sun

Between them, they play on six varsity sports teams a year and have racked up more awards and honors than most people ever knew existed. After years of phenomenal performances on the soccer field, softball diamond and the basketball court, Cali and Natalie Pratt are preparing for another chance at glory.

This summer, the Truckee sisters will be joining a select group of collegiate soccer players from California and Nevada to train with the mens’ and womens’ Thai National team throughout Thailand, under the tutelage of UNR’s Head Womens’ Soccer Coach Dang Pibulvecu.

Their training will span from July 18 to Aug. 6, taking them all over Thailand to play some of the best young players in the world. Both Cali and Natalie have been members of the Wolverine varsity soccer team since they were freshmen, guiding the ladies to a second place finish to the 2000 season and a third place overall standing in 1999. Senior Cali Pratt was recently named Nevada’s 3A Overall MVP of the State and is looking to play soccer next fall at St. Mary’s University in Moraga, Calif. Junior Natalie will be returning to play her fourth season of varsity soccer for the Wolverines.

The total cost of the trip is $2,200 for each player and the Pratts are currently seeking donations to make this opportunity possible.
