Softball teams tie for first

The Truckee Wolverines’ softball team moved into a virtual tie for first-place with Bishop Manogue thanks to a pair of wins last Saturday against Yerington in Truckee.

The Lady Wolverines won both ends of a doubleheader, beating the Lady Lions 6-2 and 13-10.

Senior Heather Shove was the winning pitcher in the first game, striking out seven while giving up only three hits.

Julie Rohrback was 3-for-4 with a triple in the first game.

In game two, Shove pitched the first three innings, striking out four with two hits and two earned runs, before sophomore Amber Harder took over.

Harder and Vanessa Ramirez were both 2-for-4 in game two.

The Lady Wolverines will host Manogue this Tuesday, but the location of the game will be determined by weather and field conditions.
