Kids golf tournaments at PonderosaThe Truckee-Donner Recreation andamp; Park District has three tournaments scheduled for the summer for ages 6-15. The first tournament is Sunday, July 24 for kids ages 15 and under, for $15 per golfer. Sunday, Aug. 21, is for a parent and child, at $30 per team, and Sunday, Sept. 25, is for kids 15 and under. Tee off at 1 p.m. Costs include green fees, goodie bags, awards and lunch. Must have own clubs and proper attire. Register at TDRPD or at the course. Call 582-7720 to register. Space is limited.Boreal to spin chairlift July 23Boreal Mountain Resort will spin the Castle Peak Quad chairlift on July 23, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., in celebration of the new Woodward Tahoe coming in the summer of 2012. Boreal will provide a full terrain park on one run available. Beginner terrain will not be available. Food, beverages, rental equipment and retail will be available. Lift tickets will cost $25 for teen/adults and $15 for children, while all 2011/2012 season passes will be accepted. Classes will be on Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31. Saturday will be an indoor class introducing students to equipment requirements, knot-tying and how to set up a balanced system. Sunday will be spent out on the water, learning wading safety, stream entomology, how to read the water, fly casting, etc. Parents are encouraged to join us to observe their child learning the basic skills.
