For more information visit or Avalanche Center fundraiserIn an effort to combat the adverse economy and maintain the regions only free daily avalanche advisory, the Sierra Avalanche Center (SAC) is hosting three final Ski andamp; Ride Day Fundraisers in collaboration with Sugar Bowl, Alpine Meadows and Kirkwood. Skiers and riders are encouraged to purchase discount lift tickets online, with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to support the SAC. Remaining events wil be held at Alpine Meadows on March 29 and Kirkwood on April 5. Tickets cost $35, and are available at For more information call the avalanche hotline at 587-2158.Billy Dutton UphillThe Billy Dutton Uphill will celebrate its 20th anniversary on Sunday, April 12, with registration from 7-8 a.m. at the funnitel. The race benefits Cross Country Junior Olympics and is a celebration of the life of Billy Dutton, a search and rescue skier who lost his life to brain cancer more than 20 years ago. The course climbs 3.2 miles from the funnitel to High Camp, and can be done on cross-country skis, snowshoes or running shoes. A party will be held at High Camp with raffle prizes, music and food. Free registration will be at the Beacon andamp; Eggs tent near the top of Subway Chair Lift (next to the base lodge) from 9-11 a.m. The Le Mans-style start is at noon near the top of the Subway beginner lift. Raffle tickets will also be sold, and ticket holders will win other outdoor products. Competitors must provide their own beacons, probes and shovels. Team registration is available until June 8. There will be 10 games played on Sundays from 5-8 p.m. Team fees are $125 and sponsor fees $150. A managers meeting is scheduled for June 8 at Rideout at 6 p.m. For more information call 583-4440, extension 11, or e-mail all-mountain youth ski and snowbaord campJust in time for spring break, Alpine Meadows Ski Resort will offer a week of all-mountain training for skiers, snowboarders and telemarkers ages 7 through 16 starting April 13 at the Spring All-Mountain Camp. Kids and teens will receive expert coaching and instruction in all aspects of their sport. Participants meet on the snow near the base of Summit Six Chair (near the Alpine Meadows lodge). Coaching is from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. each day. Cost is $345 and includes lift tickets for the five camp days ($295 for pass holders). Campers received five days of coaching with April 15 as a rest day without coaching. Skiers may present their 2008-2009 season pass at any Homewood ticket window to receive an adult full-day lift ticket for $25. Limit of one adult ticket per passholder, per Thursday. Homewood will also offer $29 full-day adult lift tickets on select days throughout March and April.
