Outrigger canoe classExperience the sport of outrigger canoe paddling on Donner Lake with the Kawaiulu O Tahoe Canoe Club, which is offering six, two-hour classes for $60. Classes are for those ages 16 and older with strong swimming skills. Classes are on Saturdays from June 5 through July 10 from 8-10 a.m. at West End Beach. Sign up through the Truckee-Donner Recreation andamp; Park District, at 582-7720.Jake’s 17th Annual Charity Fishing Derby Jake’s 17th Annual Charity Fishing Derby returns to Lake Tahoe on Sunday, June 6 from one hour before sunrise to noon. A $1,000 cash prize is awarded for the largest mackinaw, $500 for the largest brown trout and $250 for the largest rainbow trout. A $50 entry donation includes a T-shirt, Jake’s Buffet Brunch and raffle. All proceeds will benefit the North Tahoe Booster Club.
