Youth soccer tryouts

Barcelona Norcal Soccer Club of Truckee is holding competitive soccer tryouts this month. Tryouts will be held on two dates, both of which should be attended: June 26 at Truckee’s River View Sports Park, and June 30 at Terrace Park in Reno. U12-U14 players try out from 4-5:30 p.m., and U8-U11 players from 6-7:30 p.m. Players should wear a plain T-shirt, shorts and shin guards and bring water and a ball. Open-water swim clinics

Boost Swimming is offering 1.5-hour clinics to enhance athletes’ open-water skills. Participants will swim on the course being used in Ironman Lake Tahoe as well as Waterman’s Landing in Carnelian Bay, with instruction from a professional coach. Swimmers should be able to swim 400 meters continuously in open water to have a productive workout experience. Wetsuits are recommended.

The clinics started June 11 and continue through Sept. 20. Cost is $149 for a season pass, $20 for preregistered drop-ins and $25 for on-site drop-ins. Go to www.boost swimming.com for more info.

AYSO sign-ups

North Tahoe AYSO is taking registration for the fall season. No registration will be taken after July 9. AYSO has teams for children ages 4 to 14; prior soccer experience is not required. Soccer games start the week after Labor Day and usually go through the middle of October. Most teams will have several practices before Labor Day. College soccer camp

Lake Tahoe boys and girls college soccer ID camp is set to take place June 19-20. The times will be 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 19, and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 20. The camp is open to all male and female players in eighth through 12th grade, with players separated by gender. Coaches from the University of Nevada, St. Mary’s College, Chico State, Sonoma State, Lamar University and others are expected to attend.
