Sugar Bowl to host final stop of Rahlvesand#8217; Banzai Tour

The inaugural Rahlvesand#8217; Banzai Tour returns home to Sugar Bowl for the final stop of the season with the Silver Belt Banzai and Rahlves Super Finals on Saturday and Sunday, March 12-13.

With successful tour stops already at Alpine Meadows and Kirkwood, 150 of the best skiers and riders will compete for a share of the $30,000 prize purse on the line at Sugar Bowl.

The event begins with Saturdayand#8217;s individual time trial qualifiers down the famed Silver Belt Gully as athletes compete against the clock to advance into Sundayand#8217;s Banzai racing format, which pits four racers at once battling down the course and#8212; and only two moving on to the next round.



Winners take home the prized Silver Belt Banzai buckles and their share of the $10,000 prize purse, with an additional $10,000 awarded to the overall tour point leaders.

Following the finals, four-time Olympian and Sugar Bowl Ski Ambassador Daron Rahlves will challenge the three menand#8217;s ski winners from each tour stop to a one-run, winner-takes-all $10,000 Super Final.

Entry fee is $100. Registration includes a lift ticket for Saturdayand#8217;s time trials and Sundayand#8217;s Banzai racing should a competitor advance.

Recognizing the Rahlvesand#8217; Banzai Tourand#8217;s festive vibe and fan-friendly atmosphere, Sugar Bowl will be lifting all season pass restrictions for the Banzai weekend, meaning any and all Sugar Bowl season passholders will be welcome to enjoy the Banzai racing, parties, barbecues and awards.

In addition, Sugar Bowl will offer any 2010/and#8217;11 season pass holders from other ski resorts a free CORE Daily Pass on Saturday and Sunday of the Banzai weekend only, a $19 value, giving a $12 savings on lift tickets for the remainder of the season. Sunday, March 13, also is a CORE Appreciation Day. Lift tickets for all Daily CORE Pass holders are $39 for adults, and $27 for young adults and seniors.

The Silver Belt Banzai festivities include a vendor village, a Saturday apres party at Judah Lodge benefiting the Sugar Bowl Ski Team Foundation, a Banzai party at the Pastime Club in Truckee on Saturday evening, a finish line barbecue, awards party at Judah Lodge on Sunday afternoon, and music by D.J. Nomad.
