Tahoe Basin League ski racing: Truckee girls take win

The Truckee girls captured first place over South Tahoe in a Tahoe Basin League slalom race at Heavenly on Thursday.

Truckee handed the Vikings’ girls their first runner-up finish after three straight league wins by placing four skiers in the top 10, led by Ali Gerrard in fourth.

The Wolverines compiled a winning score of 167 points to South Tahoe’s 162. North Tahoe was third with 156 points, followed by Douglas (123), Whittell (54) and Incline (48).

North Tahoe had two girls finish in the top 10, as Kelsey Wittels placed third with a time of 1:03:73 and Taylor Pasvantis was ninth in 1:06:98. Grace Dolan of Incline won the race with a time of 59:27.

Gerrard posted a time of 1:03:75 to lead the Truckee girls, while teammates Danielle Smallman was seventh (1:06:23), Hanna Casares eighth (1:06:53) and Whitney Reed 10th (1:07:71). Sara Williams finished 11th (1:11:31) for the Truckee girls.

South Tahoe’s boys took first place with 178 points. Whittell’s boys were second (156), North Tahoe third (142), Truckee fourth (139), Douglas fifth (93) and Incline sixth (45).

A regular top finisher, North Tahoe’s Nico Monforte led the Laker boys with a fourth-place finish in 54:79, while teammate Pierson Souza finished 10th (1:00:10). Simon Nikles of Whittell won the race with a mark of 52:39.

Tyler Delumyea led Truckee’s boys with a seventh-place finish in 56:80. He was trailed by Truckee teammate Nico Kuyper in 13th (1:01:71).
