TRUCKEE, Calif. — The Tahoe Donner 55 and over men’s 9.0. tennis team traveled to Elk Grove last weekend to compete against the best teams in Northern California for a spot in the national championships.

Two local pros, Zeke Straw, Northstar Tennis Director; and Andy Biederman, Martis Camp Tennis Director, played all three days to help steer the team to victory.

After three tough battles, they found themselves in the final match against Gold River Tennis Club in Sacramento, the reigning national champions.

It all came down to the final match and they were in a dead even heat. The third set was determined by a super tiebreaker — the first team to 10. It was a nail-biter finish, but Tahoe Donner prevailed, 10-7, to win the championships and earn a berth to compete against the best in the country for the national championships.

The national event will be held Oct. 28-30 in Surprise, Ariz. Visit norcal.usta.com to learn more.
