Tahoe Forest edges AAUW in girls’ softball play
Following are results from the last week of play in the Truckee-Donner Recreation and Park District’s girls’ softball league.
Leslie E. Joseph Dental Health 12 – Tahoe Forest Hospital 8: Melissa Burnside struck out 10 batters and Deverle Hewitt and Michelle Blair provided key defensive plays for the winners. Shellie Snell, Rachel Thies, Kelly Snyder and Kati Neckels all had big hits for the hospital.
Tahoe Forest Hospital 17 – AAUW 16: Tiffany Schegg had a two-run single and Kait Neckels picked up the win on the mound for the hospital. Jessica McCauley had a towering three-run homer for AAUW.
Tonon and Assoc. 13 – AAUW 12: Strong pitching from Laurel Tonon, great defense from Nicole Cardinali, Lindsey Buchanon, Blythe Marshman, Christine Miller and Emily Flanders helped lead Tonon to victory. Arinn Carlson had two home runs for AAUW.
Fifth/sixth grade league
Quality Painting 14 – Century 21 – Don Casler Real Estate Anita Racicot 7: Katrina Baumann had two RBI, Amber McGlyn made a great catch and Ashley Porter made the defensive play of the season to lead Quality Painting.
Zoe Richards, Jessie Racicot and Kelsey Bolstad led the offense and Rene Racicot led the defense for Century 21.
Shaffer Paving 16 – KC Painting 11: Good defense by Kayla Cortez and hitting by Donielle Peterson captured the win.
Corina Mincey and Allison Carroll sparkled on defense for KC Painting.
Anita Racicot/Century 21 16 – Quality Painting 12: Defensive plays by Jessie Racicot and Zoe Richards helped win the game. Chelsea Bahr homered and Rochelle Anderson had a three-run homer.
Third/fourth grade league
Law Offices of Robert L. Tamietti 19 – Ken Panziera Construction 16: Anne Sharpe had a home run and five RBI and Jenny Hill played sterling defense to pace the winners. Maribelle Chavez and Faviloa Herrera tripled and Nicole Panziera turned a double play for KPC.
Robert L. Tamietti 16 – Jerry’s Painting Service 12: Jennifer Hill’s clutch double play ended this tight game. Kaitlin Zusy had a triple, Dana Gunter homered and Zusy also turned a tight double play for the Painters.
