More than 115 skiers and snowboarders between the ages of 11 and 18 took to the steeps of the Chutes at Mount Rose Ski Tahoe for the final stop of the Tahoe Junior Freeride Series this past weekend.

The event, postponed from its original date due to weather, was held in sunny, springlike conditions.

Ross Tester of the Squaw Valley Big Mountain Team topped the field in the competitive 15-18-year-old male ski division with a score of 69.9. Squaw Free skiers claimed the next four spots on the podium, with Tyler Curle and Jacob Lee finishing second and third, respectively.

Tester’s win helped him clinch the overall season title in the division, with 1,417 points. Runner-up Xander Guldman of Sugar Bowl Freeride, who did not compete on the final stop, finished second in the standings with 1,369 points, while Cody Atwood of the Squaw Valley Big Mountain Team was third (1,203).

In the 15-18 female ski division, Sydney Gradeff of Sugar Bowl Freeride narrowly edged Jane Nall of the Squaw Valley Big Mountain Team, 64.334 to 64.233, to secure the season title with 1,417 points.

Squaw Free’s Mia Winans finished third with a score of 63.2, which placed her second in the overall standings with 1,286 points. Hallie Conyers-Tucker of Sugar Bowl Freeride was third in the standings (1,121).

Squaw Alpine Snowboard Team members swept the podium in the 15-18 snowboard division, with Jesse Aves edging Dylan Zellers, 61.3 to 61.2, and Sam Shinkle placing third (57.067).

Zellers took the overall, however, with 1,417 points. Aves was second in the overall (1,286) and Andrew Kraatz third (1,177).

In the 11-14 ski divisions, Jonny Lee of Squaw Free finished ahead of Gavin Weber and Jordy Guldman in a close boys battle at Rose, while Squaw Free’s Chloe Nicolaou topped the girls field ahead of Elena Silverman and Ava Seelenfreund.

Seelenfreund, who skis for the Squaw Valley Big Mountain Team, posted a high enough score to secure the overall title ahead of Nicolaou and Britta Winans. Lee, Weber and Guldman also finished 1-2-3 in the male 11-14 overall.

In the 11-14 snowboard group, Squaw Alpine Snowboard Team members Nathan Bromley and George Skaff finished 1-2 at Rose and in the overall, while Tavo Sadeg was third on the final stop and Bryce Manning was third in the overall.
