Tahoe Trail Running Series in full swing with Run to Squaw

Truckee's Wyatt House races to a second-place finish in the Run to Squaw on Sunday. The 7.9-mile race started at Commons Beach in Tahoe City and ended in the Village at Squaw.

Chris Badolato of Reno followed by Wyatt House of Tahoe City led a field of 114 athletes in the Run to Squaw this past Sunday.

The race, the fifth of 12 events in Big Blue Adventure’s Tahoe Trail Running Series, started at Commons Beach in Tahoe City and followed the Truckee River Trail to the finish line 7.9 miles later in the Village at Squaw Valley.

Badolato, 37, posted a winning time of 46 minutes, 23.68 seconds. House, 26, crossed the finish line in 49:21.47, and Kristin Walstad of Alta placed third overall and first among women in 49:47.28.



Truckee’s Holden Reed, 18, finished fifth in 54:14.17, Anthony Cupaiuolo of South Lake Tahoe was seventh in 55:10.32 and Alex Larson of South Lake Tahoe was 14th in 58:43:35.

Liza Muhl of Tahoma was the eighth woman and 25th overall, posting a time of 1:05:00, and Michelle Reed of Truckee finished one spot back in 1:05:06.




The Tahoe Trail Running Series continues with the Run to the Beach at North Tahoe Regional Park on July 4 and the Northstar 50K on July 20. Other events in the series include the Northstar Mountain Run (Aug. 10), Big Blue Trail Run (Aug. 16), Marlette 50K (Aug. 17), Heavenly Mountain Run (Aug. 31), Emerald Bay Trail Run (Sept. 20) and the Lederhosen (Sept. 27).
