Tahoe Twins advance to NABA championship

Jesse Hildebrandt allowed only one run in a seven-inning complete game, and every one of his teammates contributed an RBI as the Tahoe Twins routed the Reno Creepers 11-1 in the semifinal round of the NABA playoffs Sunday.

Hildebrandt, who faced two batters above the minimum, struck out seven while scattering six hits. He gave up the one run in the seventh inning.

The Twins were held in check through five innings as the game remained scoreless. Bats woke up in the bottom of the sixth, however, as the Twins exploded for seven runs. They added four more in the seventh to end the game early on the 10-run mercy rule.

Cory Munoz went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI, raising his team-leading average to an even .500 (24-for-48), while Joe Thomas went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Gabe Sandersius drove in two runs on one hit, and Bobby Habeger, Jesse Brown, Steve Derby, Jamy Habeger, Drew Lipnosky and Randy Jansen all had one RBI.

The Twins advanced to face the Reno Hornets in the championship game, which is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 16, at North Tahoe Regional Park.
