Tahoe Twins | Local baseball team to compete in NABA World Championship Series

The Tahoe Twins are set to compete Thursday through at least Saturday in the National Adult Baseball Association World Championship Series in Phoenix.

The Twins are scheduled to play the Mountain Men and the Denver Bulls on Thursday in their 18 (and older) Rookie Division. On Friday they take on San Jacinto and the Washington Pilots, while Saturday they face Utah. Semifinals and the championship game are Sunday.

Twins manager Bob Habeger said his team and#8212; a second-year club made up of North Tahoe and Truckee players and#8212; needs to win at least three games to reach the playoff series.



Tentative starting pitchers will be Joe Thomas, J.R. Murphy, who hasnand#8217;t competed with the Twins since last year, Jesse Hildebrandt, Sean Bernardo and Nick Moreales.

The Twins are 3-1 of late coming off a pair of doubleheaders against the Chico Sugar Kings and Butte Sabres.
