Little League reportsTruckee MinorsTrout Creek Landscape Supply Mustangs vs. Truckee Train Joy Bisons, May 4, Mustangs 9 – Bisons 5Mike Casey swung in for three hits, four RBIs, and one home run on the day. Collin Towle had one hit and two RBIs and Sam Hume also drove in one RBI with one hit and one run. Hume pitched three innings and recorded seven strikeouts for the Mustangs win. Collin Towle and Brian Mathews each pitched one inning for the Mustangs and struck out two apiece.Al Pombo, Inc. Wizards vs. Trout Creek Supply Mustangs, May 8, Mustangs 25 – Wizards 2Sam Hume pitched three innings and recorded four strike outs for the win. Hume also collected three hits on the day to lead his team with three RBIs. CJ Ackerman made a spectacular running catch in centerfield and doubled the runner off first base with a strong throw. Mike Casey and Dylan Crosby each added two hits to the Mustangs victory with three RBIs each.Trout Creek Supply Mustangs vs. Taco Bell Diamonds, May 12, Mustangs 23 – Diamonds 2Collin Towle and Brian Mathews combined to pitch the Mustangs to victory. Dylan Crosby stopped a line drive in the first inning for the fielding play of the day. Mike Casey, Brian Mathews and Collin Towle led the Mustangs at the plate with three hits each for the former and two for Towle for a combined 10 RBIs. Mike Casey upped his season home runs to two with a triple to round out the Mustangs’ batting spree.M.C. Taylor Construction Bears vs. Anthony Roofing Firebirds, Bears 29 – Firebirds 14Sawyer Stratton and Steve Carter both hit triples for the Firebirds to keep their team in the game. Amber Davy also had two hits and some great plays in centerfield.Truckee FarmAG Edwards Spirits vs. Herrington Construction Stars, May 12, Spirits 20 – Stars 14Jonathan Kucera made his spring debut a successful one with two solid singles in as many at bats. Tony Garand went 2 for 3 and scored one run while his brother Jacob was 4 for 4, scoring four runs and adding a Grand Slam homerun to his team’s victory. Defensively, Reece Henderson made two run saving plays and remained a strong presence in the field. David Brown was also a defensive standout.Perennial Nursery Lumber Kings vs. CHP Squad Club Mudcats, May 12, Mudcats 15 – Lumber Kings 13Lumber Kings first baseman Brooks was a force to be reckoned with all day long, yet strong hitting by Troy Allen with two homers and Shane Fisher with one trip around the bases led the Mudcats to an eventual 15-13 victory.Truckee T-BallPizza Junction River Bandits vs. Southwest Heating Missions, May 15,Both teams displayed great fielding as the River Bandits delivered six fielding outs. Thor Retzlaff cleaned up in the field with several fly ball catches and Sam Bockius delivered solid throws to first base. Drew Hartley also aided the Bandits with strong defensive plays throughout the day. For the Missions, Andrew Blaker and Christopher Towle remained active in the field, scooping up several grounders and making accurate throws.To submit Little League game information, call Lara Mullin at (530) 587-6061 for a report form. Chelsea Cordell hit a double in the last inning to knock in the winning run as the painters bats came alive. Becky Haulman went 3 for 3 and Kelsey Highfill was 2 for 3 for the dentists.Washoe County Sheriffs’ 22 – Sierra Paint & Chemical 14Kaytlyn Keller played awesome defense at third, Hannah Zusy made a great catch out field and went 2 for 3 with a single and a double for the painters.Izzys’ 11 – Cordell Painting 13Shelby Macrorie and Katie Murphy were the defensive stars, Katie also was involved in a great double play.5th and 6th Grade GirlsBurger King 17 – Truckee Optimist 18Great team defense. Brittney Taylor had an awesome catch and Kelly Stephens drove in the winning run for the Optimists. Katie Reiswig and Kim Harrigan were the defensive stars as well as Jordan Raber with a home run to keep the game close for Burger King.US Bank 15 – Incline 22Casey Hanes made some great outs to help the defense, as Angel Thomason had a great home run as the bankers fell short in the last inning.7th and 8th Grade GirlsTahoe City 13 – A.A.U.W. 12Amanda Jones and Chelsea Hauff pitched an excellent game, as Felicia Tenorio had a big home run to keep the game a nail-biter.
