Tonon and Williams noted for athletic exploits

Truckee High baseball players, Ben Tonon and Jimmy Williams, and softball player, Kaley White, were chosen as winners of the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association-Chevron High Performance Athletes of the Week awards program for the week of April 11-16.

Tonon and Williams combined to lead the Wolverines to a key sweep of Sparks on April 16.

Tonon picked up a complete-game victory pitching the first game, allowing no earned runs, no walks and two hits while striking out eight batters in five innings.

Williams went 5-for-6 at the plate during the doubleheader, smacking a triple and three doubles and knocking in five runs.

White pitched the softball team to an impressive 3-0 week. White threw 10 innings, allowed 10 hits, three walks, and two earned runs over the course of the three games ” one against Whittel and two against Sparks. White also had a .455 batting average in the three games.
