Truckee 9-10 All-Stars rout Reno American West

GOVERNORS FIELD, Carson City and#8212; Truckee Little Leagueand#8217;s 9-10 All-Stars continued their torrid pace in the Carson City All-Star Tournament Tuesday night, routing Reno American West 14-1 to improve to 3-0.

The Truckee squad has outscored opponents 38-3 in its three wins, beating Sparks National 12-2 over the weekend and North Tahoe 12-1 on Monday night.

Truckee, which already has secured a berth into the next round of the tournament, faces its toughest test tonight (Wednesday) against Carson Valley. First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Governors Field.

On Tuesday, three Truckee pitchers combined to hold the Reno American West All-Stars to one unearned run in the first inning.

Austin Johnson started for Truckee and pitched two innings. Bennett Drummond pitched the next two innings, and Ethan Rohlf recorded the final two outs in relief. The game was called after five innings on the 10-run mercy rule.

Offensively, Truckee scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning to take the lead, then extended it with an onslaught of runs in the third and fourth.

Jack Englert hit a two-run triple and scored on an overthrow in the third inning, and Joey Gravell swatted two hits in the game, one of which drove in a pair of runs.

After tonight, the Carson City All-Star Tournament becomes single-elimination.
