Truckee’s baseball team was swept in its opening three-game league series at Fernley this past weekend, 16-4, 10-0 and 9-1.

Fernley’s Travis Derley started and earned the win in the first game Friday. In six innings of work, the senior struck out six and gave up four runs. The Vaqueros had 14 hits, with Carlos McIntyre leading the way with a 3-for-5 performance with a double and a triple.

Fernley junior Brandon Hlade pitched the Vaqueros to victory in the first game of Saturday’s twin bill, allowing only two hits in 6 2/3 innings. Josh Kirk led the Vaqueros offensively with an RBI on four hits.

Truckee stats were not available.

The Wolverines are scheduled to play a three-game league series at Fallon, the defending state champions, this Friday and Saturday.
