Truckee baseball: Wolverines routed by Dayton

The Truckee High baseball team dropped a league game against Dayton, 14-3, on Wednesday.

The Wolverines are now 5-2 in the Northern 3A and 8-2 overall.

Truckee head coach Mike Ellis said the Dust Devils hit senior ace Maclane Brady hard from get-go, scoring two runs in the first inning, one in the second and six in the third for an early 9-1 lead.

and#8220;They beat us up,and#8221; Ellis said. and#8220;… Hopefully (Brady) can bounce back and recover from this.and#8221;

Dayton added a pair of runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Truckee senior leadoff hitter Jordan Deiro led off the game with a home run and#8212; his third of the season and#8212; while Brian Matthew and Matt Theis each had a double for the Wolverines.

UP NEXT: The Wolverines play a doubleheader at Dayton on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., then head to Santa Rosa to compete in a tournament. Truckee then competes in the Big League Dreams Tournament in Redding from April 8-10.
