Truckee basketball | Girls defeat Lund, Hug, improve to 2-0
The Wolverines are scheduled to compete in the Varsity Elite Tournament on Dec. 26-27 and play a league game at Fallon on Jan. 2.
In its first action of the season, the Truckee girls basketball team defeated Lund and Hug in a round-robin tournament hosted by Hug on Saturday.
The Wolverines defeated Lund 57-30 and Hug 46-39. Their scheduled league opener against South Tahoe on Friday was postponed to Tuesday night.
Truckee held Lund to single-digit scoring in each quarter, leading 16-5 after one quarter and 29-14 at the half. Truckee outscored Lund 16-8 in the third and 12-8 in the fourth to cruise to the lopsided victory.
Junior guard Sydney Mock led the Wolverines with 20 points, making two of her 3-point attempts, while senior guard Marcelle Reynaud scored 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field. Sophomore post Maddie Monson grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds, and both Mock and Reynaud had four steals apiece.
Mock scored 17 points against Division I Hug and had a team-high eight rebounds and six steals. Reynaud contributed 10 points, making five of her seven shots from the field. Junior Katie Fisher had three blocks.
