Truckee football | Shaffer voted All-League Coach of the Year

Northern 3A coaches honored players from Lowry, Elko and Fernley for the All-League’s highest accolades, while the state champion Wolverines received numerous first- and second-team selections.

Lowry’s Jace Billingsley received the highest honor, as the senior running back and defensive back was voted All-Northern 3A MVP. Bryan Noble of Lowry was voted Defensive Player of the Year, Kenney Bradley of Fernley was voted Offensive Player of the Year and Khuzaymah Perez of Elko was voted Lineman of the Year.

Truckee’s Bob Shaffer, whose Wolverines won their third consecutive state title this past Saturday, was voted Coach of the Year.



The All-League awards are voted on by the Northern 3A coaches.

For Truckee, Pat Shaffer was named to the All-League first team at quarterback, while Braden Waters was voted to the first team at tight end and Sam Schroeder was voted to the first team at guard.



Defensively, Cole Roberts made the first team as a linebacker, Zak Pettit as a defensive end, Stein Retzlaff as a defensive tackle, and Trevor Auldridge as a cornerback.

Auldridge also was voted to the All-League second team as a wide receiver, while Jake Pettit was voted to the second team as a running back and Retzlaff as an offensive tackle.

Graham Christian was named to the second team at linebacker and Kai Goodpaster at safety.

The following players received honorable mention recognition: Austin Ferreira (G), Carlos Ramirez (DT), Luke Theis (CB), Ferreira (K) and Erik Holmer (LB).
