State champs!

On Saturday, Feb. 18, Auburn Ski Club hosted the state championships for nordic skiing. Many teams competed from the local Tahoe area, as well as some from the lower Auburn area, both in the high school and middle school divisions.

For high school varsity girls, Quinn Lehmkuhl, of North Tahoe High School, won the individual race with a time of 26 minutes, 10.0 seconds. Kianna Mullings and Ella Kuzyk, both of the Sugar Bowl Ski Academy, finished second and third, respectively.

For high school varsity boys, Haydn Halvorsen (Sugar Bowl) placed first overall with a time 20:20.6. Christopher O’Brien (Sugar Bowl) and JC Schoonmaker (NTHS) finished second and third, respectively.

In terms of overall team points, Truckee High School took home the state title for varsity girls, while North Tahoe High won the boys division.
