Truckee golf on a roll

The Truckee High golf team won its third consecutive Northern 3A league tournament at Empire Ranch in Carson City on Thursday.

With the win, the Wolverines took over sole possession of first place in front of Lowry in the league standings.

Three tournaments remain before the state championship, starting Thursday at Spring Creek, then at North Tahoe on May 4 and concluding May 10 at Truckee.

Truckee posted a combined score of 399 for the win on Thursday. Fernley was second at 409, followed by Lowry at 428 and Spring Creek 431.

North Tahoe did not have enough golfers to receive a score. The Lakers’ Alec Griffith and Kevin Scardigli did post scores, however, with Griffith shooting a 90 and Scardigli 91.

Fernley’s Brandon Dalton was the tournament medalist, shooting a 71. Truckee’s Bryce Poulin shot a 74 for the second-lowest score while teammates Danny Kruck shot 76, Gavin Novotny 82, Kevin Barchas 83, Pat Galvin 84 and Richie Breuner 85.

Spring Creek will host the next tournament on Thursday at 10 a.m.
