Truckee JV soccer | Girls continue winning streak
The Truckee High JV girlsand#8217; soccer team swept both games of a home doubleheader against Sparks and North Tahoe, winning 2-0 and 4-0, this past Saturday at Alder Creek Middle School.
The girls came out strong against Sparks. Emily Houghton scored the first goal off an assist by Ashley Harris. Melisa Pena set up the play for the second goal scored by Lauren Huesby.
The MVP of the game was Quinn Parker, who diligently worked the ball up the sideline creating numerous opportunities for goals. Coach Katie commented, and#8220;The team is playing great together. They are linking passes and maintaining good ball control while they wait for opportunities to score.and#8221;
Truckee dominated against North Tahoe for the 4-0 win. The four goals were scored in the first half of the game when Sydney Vandenberg scored from an assist by Karina Rivera. Cynthia Santana scored off of an assist by Sonia Blanco. Karina Rivera also assisted Emily Houghtonand#8217;s goal. And, Lauren Huesby set Shelby Matthews up for the fourth goal.
The MVP of the game was Sara Lade, who transitioned flawlessly from playing defense to midfield.

Students frustrated at the cancellation of sports waved signs and delivered speeches at a Truckee High School protest in an attempt to return to the field this year.
