The impressive run by Truckee Little League’s 9-10 All-Stars came to an end Thursday night with a 6-3 loss to South Tahoe in the District I quarterfinal of the Carson City All-Star Tournament.

The Truckee squad finished 4-1 in the tournament, outscoring opponents 53-14 despite the one loss.

Truckee pitchers Austin Johnson, Bennett Drummond and Miles Guiragossian combined to allow just three earned runs against South Tahoe. But while the Truckee All-Stars’ potent offense produced 12 runs or more in each of its first four games, the hits weren’t falling Thursday, leaving a number of runners stranded on base.

Jayden Commendatore contributed to a Truckee rally in the third, driving in a run with a base hit to tighten the score to 6-3. But the Truckee All-Stars could not muster any runs beyond the third. They never gave in, however, making noise by sending the tying run to the plate in the fourth and fifth innings.

South Tahoe did a commendable job fending off the Truckee rallies, using solid defense and pitching from Garret Harley and Noah Jackson to close out the game.
