Truckee Little League All-Stars competing in Nevada tournament
ALL |
Two Truckee Little League All-Star squads will compete over the next couple of weeks in the Nevada District 1 All-Star Tournament in Carson City, which started Wednesday.
The tournament, hosted by Carson City Little League, includes 33 teams in three age divisions. Teams are assembled from the communities of North Tahoe, Truckee, South Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Reno and Sparks.
Governor’s Field in Carson City will host all three age divisions (9-10, 10-11, 11-12), two of which began on Wednesday. Unlike the recently completed Hooligan and Renegade tournaments, the district tournaments in Carson City follow a double-elimination format.
The winner of each division advances to the Nevada State Little League Championship Tournament, while the winner of the 11-12 age division will also advance to the Little League Western Regional Tournament in San Bernardino, Calif., where play begins Aug. 6. The winner of this tournament advances to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Penn., where play starts Aug. 20.
Stay tuned for an update on how the Truckee All-Stars, as well as North Tahoe All-Stars, fare in the tournament. Admission is free to all games.
