Truckee Little League All-Stars lose to unbeaten Reno Continental

The Truckee 10-11 All-Stars lost 14-0 to Reno Continental in the third game of the District I Little League All-Star Tournament in Reno on Tuesday.

Reno had won each game of the tournament by at least 10 runs while allowing opponents only one run combined.

Truckee got off to a good start in the top of the first inning by loading the bases, but could not drive any runs in. In the bottom half of the inning, Truckee pitcher Jake Pettit did a great job throwing strikes, but gave up a double and a home run.

In the second inning, the lone runner to reach base for Reno was gunned down by Truckee catcher Andy McKechnie.

Unfortunately for Truckee, Reno’s bats came alive in the third, as they plated 12 runs off eight hits, including two more home runs.

Pettit went two innings for Truckee, striking out one and allowing nine hits but no walks. Erik Holmer relieved Pettit in the third, going one inning, striking out one and allowing two hits. Holmer and center fielder Clayton O’Connell each had one hit on the day. O’Connell also was close to making two diving catches.

Truckee is now 1-2 in the tournament.
