The Truckee Pee Wee Pop Warner team recorded seven consecutive shutouts while outscoring opponents 190-24 to earn a berth in the Snow Bowl Championship game on Saturday.

The Wolverines opened the postseason against the Sparks Wolfpack, whom they had previously defeated 25-0. However, this matchup was played in 30-degree weather with rain, snow and wind.

With players so cold that simple tasks such as blocking and running were painful, and throwing and catching were nearly impossible, Truckee settled for a modest 8-0 victory.

In the second round of the playoffs, Truckee squared off for the second time against rival South Tahoe.

In the first meeting Truckee opened the game with a 53-yard touchdown pass from Sam Smith to Patrick Hogan on the first offensive play.

This time Truckee kept its foot on the pedal en route to a 26-0 win.

The Wolverines were held in check for the first quarter because of the Vikings tough play. But Truckee’s pounding defense and relentless ground game eventually broke through.

The win set up a rematch against Reno South for the Pee Wee Snow Bowl Championship, which will be held at Bishop Manogue High School in Reno on Saturday at noon.
