Truckee prep roundup: Dvoracek steers Truckee volleyball to Lowry sweep
TRUCKEE, Calif. — Maia Dvoracek hammered 21 kills and collected eight digs, leading the Truckee volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep (25-20, 25-22, 25-23) of Lowry in a 3A Northern League match Friday at Truckee High School.
The Wolverines’ Madison Bromley penciled in eight kills and a team-best three aces. Anika Penrose had six kills, Shelby Gendreau and Sara Gran-Nilsson posted six digs apiece, and Jordan Brown dished out 16 set assists.
Last Wednesday, Dvoracek was even more dominant, pounding 23 kills and collecting 33 digs to pace the Wolverines to a 3-1 league win (25-21, 25-19, 18-25, 25-21) over host South Tahoe.
Bromley added 10 kills, five aces and 12 digs for Truckee.
Brown had 19 set assists and Gendreau added 11.
Truckee (15-6), which improves to 8-0 in the league, will look to keep the pace at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Sparks.
Girls soccer: Truckee topples North Tahoe, Lowry
Ava Seelenfreund scored two goals, steering the Truckee girls soccer team to a 3-0 shutout of Lowry in a 3A Northern League game Friday in Winnemucca.
Amber Simonpietri rounded out the Wolverines’ scoring with a goal.
Truckee goalkeepers Elena Orozco and Izzy Abarno preserved the shutout with two saves apiece.
Two days earlier, the Wolverines spread the scoring in a 7-1 rout of league rival North Tahoe on Wednesday in Truckee.
Seelenfreund led the way with two goals, followed by Sophie Curtis, Olivia Koster, Olivia Vigano, Zareli Villa and Heather Pendelton with one goal each.
Mia Winans distributed a team-high two assists.
In the net, Abarno had four saves.
Maile Markham scored North Tahoe’s lone goal. Olivia Sproehnle provided the assist.
Truckee (9-0, 8-0) looks to stay unbeaten when it hosts Sparks at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Boys soccer: Wolverines tie Lakers, rout Buckaroos
The Truckee boys soccer team shook off a 2-2 tie with North Tahoe on Wednesday and bounced back with a 5-1 rout of Lowry on Friday at Truckee High School.
The Wolverines jumped out to a 3-0 halftime-lead over the Buckaroos before tacking on two more insurance goals in the second half.
In the tie with the Lakers, Jose Gonzalez netted Truckee’s two goals. Joel Garcia provided an assist.
Truckee goalkeeper Jose Apolinar had six saves.
Truckee (8-2-3, 4-1-3) travels to Sparks for a 4 p.m. showdown Wednesday.
Boys tennis: Wolverines cap regular season on high note
Haas Zach notched three singles wins, anchoring the Truckee boys tennis team’s 11-7 win over Incline in its regular season finale Thursday at Incline High School.
The Wolverines got clutch production from its double teams, led by the duos of Warren Noah/Larson Zach and Schram Quincy/Hippler Jaden, who nabbed three wins each.
Last Tuesday, Truckee used a balanced effort to outlast Fallon 12-6.
Truckee finishes the regular season with an 8-2 record.
Girls tennis: Truckee splits in division action
After falling 14-4 at Fallon last Tuesday, the Truckee girls tennis team bounced back for a 15-3 road win over Incline in a Division 1A matchup Thursday.
Truckee wraps up the regular season with an 8-2 mark.
